I know it’s upsetting that he didn’t win once again, but don’t you think it makes him that much more human? I think we have all felt, more than once in our lives, that we have deserved congratulations for our actions and yet it never really comes as we think it should. It shows that even someone as large as Leo still experiences the same exact things that we all go through.
I respect him that much more, and honestly, he doesn’t need an award to prove to me or anyone else that he is an amazing actor and an even more amazing human being.
and let’s talk about the Academy Award members who put their votes forward towards a category where they didn’t even bother to watch all of the nominated films
This makes me so angry and hurt. These are the people who are supposed to appreciate the art and beauty in films, what good is it if they can’t appreciate the distinct art and beauty in all films? What an insult it is to the animators and visual effects artists that spend hundred of hours crafting each detail, the storyboard artists, the writers, the people in charge of making a film that is moving art that is suitable for children but meant for families, that these members did not even take the few hours of their time, the time that is their duty as a member to dedicate to watching all the nominations, because “they’re all the same.”
And fuck you to the member who “is not interested” in them because he isn’t six. What a fucking insult to the hard jobs of thousands of people, of the dreams these movies have inspired in people around the world, and the studios who devote thier money and time to giving the public their movies just like any other movie studio. These aren’t cartoons, they should be treated like any other movie on the market.
When I was 17 Tangled and Rapunzel helped bring me out of my depression. At the age of 20 Frozen has helped rekindle the relationship I have with my sister, who is 15. The Lego Movie also helped my sister realize after months of anxiety that she is special. The Incredibles, released when my dad was in his late 30s, told him he was a superhero, and our family started to see him like one too. He still has Mr. Incredible as his icon on his work computer, with Mr. Incredible action figures on his cubicle desk.
So don’t you dare fucking tell me animated movies are for 6-year-olds. Disney and other animation studios have done more for my life and my sister’s life and the relationship I have with my family and friends than any other movie studio, period. The disinterest these supposed “movie-lovers” have in important films because they are appropriate for children makes me so mad, because they are dismissing every lesson, every dream, every bond made through these movies. They aren’t made so you can sit your child in front of a screen for a few hours (or in the members’ case, not doing his job), they’re made to awaken a sense of magic and whimsy into the lives of ANYONE watching, young and old. I’m so glad Frozen won I just wish it didn’t have to win like this. Why don’t you have people who actually appreciate the work that goes into animation vote on animated movies? Fuck you, Academy.BLESS!!!
This is a joke, right?
